DigitalGlobe Expands Partnership with Orbital Insight

DigitalGlobe has expanded its partnership with geospatial analysis company Orbital Insight. Orbital Insight now has access to 400 terabytes of high-resolution imagery within DigitalGlobe’s Geospatial Big Data platform. As a result, Orbital Insight will be able to provide its customers analysis of near real-time global economic trends with even greater precision and scale. This fall, Orbital Insight expects to release several new data analytics products powered by DigitalGlobe’s image library and geospatial Big Data platform.

10 Winners Selected for Nextgov Bold Awards

Nextgov announced the recipients of its 2015 Nextgov Bold Awards, which recognize talented federal and industry innovators. The winners included Ray Bauer, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s innovation lead, for spearheading the development of GeoQ, an open-source tool providing first responders with geolocation data to make quick, informed decisions in disaster relief efforts. The CIA web team also received an award for its launch of the @CIA Twitter handle, which gained more than 440,000 followers in 24 hours. View the full list of awardees here.

LGS Innovations Awarded DARPA Contract

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awarded a $1.9 million contract to LGS Innovations for its Tactical Undersea Network Architectures (TUNA) program. LGS, along with Linden Photonics and Tethers Unlimited, is developing the world’s strongest neutrally-buoyant cable for an undersea fiber optic network. LGS will provide simulations, design, and analysis as well as scaled development and demonstration for the technology over a period of 15 months. DARPA’s TUNA program seeks to temporarily restore tactical data network connectivity in contested environments through the use of optical fiber-based technology.

USGIF’s Carrie Drake will join OGSystems Sept. 21 as director of communications. Drake previously served as USGIF’s senior manager of volunteer engagement. She has been with the Foundation since 2007 in positions including membership and exhibitor services, event operations, and community relations.

Dewberry hired Spencer Lee as a senior project manager at the company’s Baltimore office. Lee will focus on bridge design, rehabilitation, and other transportation-related projects.

Juniper Networks appointed Brian Martin senior vice president of general counsel and corporate secretary as of Oct. 5. Martin will bring nearly 20 years of corporate legal experience in the technology industry.
